We like to go outside for recess as much as possible. The fresh air and exercise is a welcome break - even if it is for a short time on a cold day.
There is no exact temperature we look at when we decide if it is too cold. We will check temperature and wind chill before our first recess period. We will not go out if temperatures are subzero. If your child has a health condition that limits his/her ability to go out in cold weather, please inform the teacher. We will make an alternate plan for your child.
Coats, hats, gloves and scarves are appropriate for cold and snowy weather (please label all items). Boots and snow pants are a must when playing in the snow. Students without boots and snow pants will be allowed to play on the black top.
Long sleeved shirts, sweaters and sweatshirts are often needed in the classroom and gym. Coats and jackets are not to be worn during the school day, so please be sure your child comes to school in layered clothing so he/she can be comfortable. Thank you for your help.
